The fabrication processes are hampered where the surface has a low energy and subsequently it is difficult to wet this surface. It will even be more so in the future, when solvent based inks and coatings become prohibited.
Pretreatment of surfaces enables to use water based inks and coatings. Harmful liquids and/or ozone generating techniques can be avoided when Advanced Machines' atmospheric pressure devices are used for surface activation.
One of challenges of modern assembling techniques is glueing of plastics, metals, ceramics, glass, etc.
Main problem of glueing of such materials and their mixtures is relatively low surface energy. This low level of energy negatively influences the adhesion strength and regularity of yield. Our experience of usage of atmospheric pressure plasma treatment shows that for most of applications the pressurized air is sufficient to get surface energies going up to 100 mN/m.
Nevertheless, sometimes the use of pressurized air only does not give the expected result. In such cases another gas could be used.
The process of metal oxide reduction with hydrogen or leather treatment with nitrogen could be given as an example. Results obtained after such treatment allow soldering of silver and cooper without usage of specific flux.
The Advanced Machines products allow our customers easily integrate the process of surface preparation into modern high speed production lines.
